Ashlee Hambleton Artist & Tutor

Red Elephant Creative Tas

Art has always brought me so much joy and comfort, I find the creative process relaxing and an essential part of maintaining  my well-being. I enjoy art mediums that have a slow process, that allow me to create fine detail and help me to be present in the moment.

Currently my arts practice is focused on detailed observation of the natural world, my main areas of interest are flowers, animals and birds. This practice provides me with a felt sense of connection to the environment, where I discover inspiration for resilience, providing strength and hope during personal challenges. I uses artistic observation to access additional well-being benefits including mindfulness, patience and learning to overcome challenges.

It is my aim to inspire others to utlise visual arts as a well-being tool and I hold a Diploma of Creative Arts and Health and I am currently studying a bachelor of Psychological Science and I am a Tier member of ANZACATA. I have a strong interest in community engagement, and a significant component of my practice is holding community classes and workshops. where I share my skills and knowledge.

I am a self taught artist and my background is in graphic design, I have also been lucky enough to attend workshops with the wonderful pastel artists June Wilson and Lyn Diefenbach and watercolour artist Sandy Michell.

The pet portrait part of my business is inspired by my love of animals, I grew up on a hobby farm and actually as a child wanted to be a vet, however my animal allergies led me down a different path. I have a mini Labradoodle named Ava, and a rainbow bridge Cavoodle named Scarlett. Two precious dogs who have taught me a lot about love and grief, so I understand how unique and strong the bond between people and their furry family members is. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to help capture precious memories for others through pet portraits.

I look forward to speaking with you soon,

Ash
